Bard HVAC Product Label Informationm

Bard HVAC equipment like the indoor air handler or outdoor compressor-condenser unit is identified by a product data tag or sticker that contains information about the unit. The data tag will include two key identification fields: the product designation or identification code and the product's individual serial number.

Bard Product Designation Codes

The product designation or model identification code is a character string that provides information about the product type, features and capacity. Below we include an example excerpted from the Bard Model Number Decloding Guide PDF file also give below.

Bard Product Serial Number & equipment age

The product serial number is a unique character string including numbers that can be decoded to give the product's age and manufacturing details.

Bard Heater Data Tag Decoder gives Equipment Age

Bard HVAC data tags decode as follows:

Serial No. CCCMYY12345

CCC is the compressor number

M = Month encoded A-Jan etc. but omitting use of the letters E, G, I & O

YY = Year 2 numeric digits

Model No. AB T88-B-99 encodes the size of the unit in tons as a numeric digit T eg AB 388-B-99 decodes as a 3-ton unit

Note that there is no PSC has received more than 50 reports of fires associated with the 140,000 horizontal furnaces manufactured by Consolidated Industries Inc.

  WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is announcing a recall of about 30,000 furnaces sold in California. Seven firms are offering to repair or replace certain furnaces, which were sold under their own labels, but were manufactured by Consolidated Industries Inc.
  
  The units involved are gas-fired horizontal furnaces equipped with steel "NOx" rods installed above the burners and are commonly called NOx rod furnaces. These furnaces pose a substantial risk of fire.
  
  All the furnaces can be identified by the steel rods installed above the burners. The firms participating in this recall are Amana Company, L.P., of Amana, Iowa; Bard Manufacturing, of Bryan, Ohio; Carrier Corporation, of Syracuse, N.Y.; Goettl Air Conditioning Inc., of Phoenix, Ariz.; Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P., of Houston, Texas; Heat Controller Inc., of Jackson, Mich.; and The Trane Company, a division of American Standard Inc., of Tyler, Texas.
