Watch out: you might successfully find parts, manuals, wiring diagrams for Sears (at left), Singer or other HVAC equipment brands by searching for "Companyname Parts" online.
But keep in mind that the "Companyname Parts" provider that appears might have nothing to do with the original company, name, or brand. It's worth a call to be sure that the part number or manual are ordering is really for the equipment that you are repairing or servicing. And as we just noted above, usually you can get the information you need from the manufacturer, for free.
If your HVAC equipment is older and is one of the brands whose name has a complex history, and if you can determine the year of manufacture of your equipment it will assist you in tracking down which company is most likely to currently stock parts or manuals for that product.
To determine the age of your equipment, see AGE of AIR CONDITIONERS & HEAT PUMPS or AGE of HEATERS, BOILERS, FURNACES.
Unlike some of the other HVAC manufacturers and suppliers listed here, Tappan, a Nortek Global brand, does not make it easy to find the company address, nor telephone number (though we provide those below) nor email, nor online downloads for manuals for their air conditioners, heat pumps or furnaces. Nice - actually impressive that this burner has performed well for so long. It would be helpful to see a sharp photo of the burner and equipment and closer photos of any data tags.

Wow thank you for all of this. Very interesting indeed. I could not find even half of the info you've provided. I will be home in about 2 hours and will get those pictures for you. Thank you again.
Very cool history behind all of this. Also I believe it is still operating but imagine would need a tune up.

Can't say much about value, but the photos of old equipment and service tips and manuals are often helpful to other readers. Those old burners, yours is probably what we call a "slow speed" using a1725 RPM motor, were ultimately replaced on otherwise serviceable boiler or furnaces with newer high-speed (3450 rpm) motors and burners, requiring of course more careful tuning and adjustment. So most of the old boys are gone now.
But if the boiler isn't cracked or holed, it's usually possible to clean and service an older low-speed burner.
I have a ThermaFlow everhot tankless all copper water heater. It sounds like there is boiling water inside the tank.
Could there be a leak inside? Is this normal? Thanks, On 2019-10-15 by George
by (mod) - not normal, here are some things to check
George,
If the heater were boiling water it'd be at 212F (more or less) and you'd sure know that at the hot water tap.
A common cause of the clanking and burbling "boiling water" sound in water heaters is scale formed on the heater's bottom and perhaps other internal surfaces.
See our discussion of heater scale and its removal and prevention in a series of articles beginning at
WATER HEATER NOISEAlso see OIL BURNER CLANKING RATTLING NOISE
For other readers: ThermaFlow makes water heaters, not building heating boilers. So we are not considering the noise made by air in hydronic heating system boilers or pipes.

Photo above: a Warden King cast iron boiler (Warden King Boiler ?) with a Flame-Master gas burner. The boiler appears to be covered with asbestos.
In its original installation this Warden King boiler was a coal-fired heater. The top cover was opened to clean the heat exchanger portion of the boiler, the middle chamber was the original combustion chamber, and the bottom chamber was originally where coal ash could be removed from the boiler.
This particular boiler, converted to a natural gas burner, is discussed at WATER FEEDER VALVE / PRESSURE-REDUCER FAQs while other Warden King boilers were also converted to burn heating oil or diesel oil.

Rogers & King produced cast iron produucts, originally making cast iron building railings and potash kettles. Popular names included the Warden King Viking boiler series, Spence's Hot water boiler (1874), and Daisy Stoves.
1852 The St. Mary Foundry, bankrupt, had its tools sold auction and the foundry was then leased by its foreman, George Rogers, and Warden King, from Montreal, forming the Rogers and King Co.
1855 The original St. Mary Foundry lease expired, leading Rogers and King to move their foundry to Craig Street in Montreal.
1856, Rogers & King foundry opened at 85 Craig St. in Montreal, Canada.
The foundry made cast iron products including potash kettles, shugar coolers, and in a completely different direction, cast iorn railings and circular stairways. The company went on to produce heating boilers, stoves, and cast iron waste piping.
1866 Rogers & King produced their first heating boiler the "Beehive".
1867 the company name was changed to Warden King, officially registerd in 1867 as a manufacturer of cast iron boilers, pipes, radiators and other products in Montreal, Canada.
1870 in response to reports of the hazards of steam boiler explosions Warden King touts their boilers as completely safe. Example research:
1886 Warden King released the Daisy heating boiler sold in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, South Africa, and the U.S. In an era of growing concerns for steam boiler explosions, King advertised their boilers as "as harmless as the tea kettle on the kitchen stove".
The HARTFORD LOOP [Article at InspectApedia.com] which proved the best solution to preventing steam boiler explosions was not found on steam boilers for another 49 years, prevented water loss and drastically reduced boiler explosions
1887 Rogers & King Co. name changed to Warden King and Warden's son James Cochrane King entered the business.
1888 Warden King was named Warden King & Son honoring James Cochrane King, Warden King's son. (Warden King passed away in 1895.)
1907 Warden King & Son Ltd. federally chartered in Quebec; James Cochrane King was president; The company also produced cast iron waste piping. The company moved its operations to Maisonneuve and while the company continued to produce heating boilers and stoves, its business focused on cast iron wastepipe.
1926 Warden King Ltd. was purchased by Crane Limited. Originally a U.S. company, Crane Co.'s Canadian operations had been operating in Winnipeg, Manitoba since 1906, producing boielrs, radiators, and other plumbing components.
1940s Warden King still in business, including production of the Warden King Viking Junior boiler.
1980s Warden King boilers continue to be produced and sold by Crane, such as the Warden King Viking Junior multi-section cast iorn boiler still providing either steam or hot water heat.
2008 Crane was bought by American Standard;
2022 Crane Supply the company's distribution/sales arm, was bought by the Deschenes Group

John,
I'm only guessing but your boiler may be from 1928.
Look for a data tag with more nformation on your heating system. You can usually see the brand, the model, and if the date of manufacture isn't right on the tag it will be encoded in the serial number.
The size of the unit or heating capacity in input and output BTUs per hour will also be given.

How old is my Westinghouse appliance?
how old? Westinghouse serial # h147546 model 4866-sg2 On 2014-12-28 by jd
Reply by (mod)
JD, it would be helpful to know what kind of appliance we're evaluating, as serial numbers and data tags and their decoding varies widely.
Without a shred of information it's a challenging question. For example, Westinghouse made a ceiling fan and a porch light, and a lawnmower as well as a halogen bulb using the same number as your Westinghouse item.
Also we can improve our guess by contextual information. For example if your appliance could date from teh 1940s then I'd guess it was a 1946 or 1947 item. Or from the 1960s, a 1975 item.
We just installed a Westinghouse LP Combi unit. It's been working just fine for the past several days. However, this morning we tried to draw DHW and it was not hot. We went to look at the unit and it said ER16.
We have tried all the troubleshooting listed and more but cannot get it to work properly. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

1. Check if dip switch High Fire setting is ON. Switches 6 and 7 should be OFF for normal operation.
2. Check if CH inlet pipe is blocked. Ensure there is enough water flowing to the appliance.
3. Check Operating Temperature sensor at CH heat exchanger outlet. If resistance is zero, replace the sensor.

Barb, before attempting to replace the control - as the instructions suggest - I'd ask for help from a trained service tech.
