On 2024-12-21 by Brian - Leaky AO-WH-SOFT-450T Water Softener - where do I get the O-Ring size or part number

I've got a ao-wh-soft-450t and it seems to be leaking at the o-rings just pass the bypass and service valves. Does anyone have a size or part number for those o-rings?

@Brian,

The installation and operation manual for that softener doesn't include a parts explosion nor parts list but it does offer AO Smith contact information: apparently the company wants you to vcall them or to go to their website rather than simply giving you the information in the manual.

O-Ring Replacement Tip

If you can't wait for AOS to mail you the replacement O-ring you need for your water softener, I've had success in the past simply taking the old O-ring to a local automotive supplier who had a large stock of O-rings. Using a caliper the distributor measured the O-ring thickness and the ring's diameter and then was able to suppy me with an exact or nearly-exact replacement for a successful repair.

I am having the same issue, and I am not finding the parts explosion page anywhere for the ao-wh-soft-450t.

@Michael,

You are SO right - I apologize; the AOS 450T Softener Manual that we've found from the company and elsewhere at various supplier websites does not provide a parts explosion.

I'm not sure why they kept that secret, as most water softener manufacturers are happy to include a parts explosion diagram.

However AO Smith does provide a web page for ordering OEM parts for your AOS Water Softener, at https://www.hotwater.com/support/parts.html

You'll need the serial number for your softener.

I'll keep looking to see what else I can find. Meanwhile, also post a photo of your AOS 450-T Softener's data tag so that I can take a look at both model and serial number details.

Re-Set softener settings after a power outage?

If power goes out do you have to reprogram the softener I got a45000 about 3 years old - On 2022-06-03 by Anonymous -

Most programmable water softeners won't forget their programming if power is out for a few hours. But often the clock on the softener timer needs to be re-set.

Do this: check the water softener's display or clock to see if it's got the right time. If not, at least you should set its clock properly.
