On 2018-11-01 by (mod) - friction losses in horizontal water piping
Shiddeshar,
The horizontal distance and pipe diameter should not significantly affect the pump requirements unless the friction and other losses (such as from many elbows or bends in piping) are unusually great
Or if the pipe diameter is quite small.
Beyond that point,
It's not just the pump horsepower that is important to get water lifted 60 feet from a water source.
It is also the type of pump.
A one-line or single-line jet pump can only lift water about 7.5 meters or 25 feet.
A two line jet pump of the same horsepower will have no trouble lifting water 60 feet.
Finally, the larger pump will deliver a faster water flow rate in liters per minute, but
watch out: if the pump rate out of the well exceeds the well's water in-flow rate then you'll pump the well dry.

Sir my question is
in my farm pipeline is 90mm lenth is 1700 feet and height is (from starting point to end point)50to 60 feet pumpset is 7hp then for which pumpset i buy for beter flow of water for agri in river and which type of valve i use for no comes pressure on pipeline i am a farmer and total land is 10 hector in this place

I would start by reviewing what local well drillers have found in water tables in the area you're going to drill.
The pump capacity is not enough information. Critical is the ability of the well to deliver water - at what rate, over what period of time. For example if your well flow rate is rather weak, your pump may need to run for longer periods but with controls that limit its withdrawal rate so as not to exhaust the well.
Take a look at the ARTICLE INDEX give just above and you'll see a series of articles about well flow rates as well as pump capacity.

I have a pending contract of drilling a 200 miter borehole(600 feet) in a community with a capacity of 5000 gallon water tank powered by a solar system. How do I go about it.I calculated a 3 horse power pump will work efficiently for about 9 hours to fill up the 5000 gallons and the solar systems with 5kva capacity will not last that long... I need a professional advice.

There is no minimum usable depth for such a well - rather the question would be its flow rate. If the well cannot deliver 250 gpm - assuming you need that enormous water flow rate (that's 50 x the minimum usable residential flow rate) - you'd need an enormous water storage facility as well.

What is the minimum depth of a well for a submersible pump capable of 250 gpm at 100 psi ?
On 2017-12-19 18:04:30.573885 by (mod) - Your total lift height is 150 ft.
Bob,
Indeed all well pumps are supported by a table showing their pumping capacity in gpm at various lift heights.
Your total lift height is 150 ft. Take a look at the data for your pump and compare that to what you think it's delivering. If the pump's actual output is in line with the table for 150 ft that will help us rule out a problem like a piping leak, low voltage, clogged inlet, damaged impeller.
You'd need to change to a higher capacity pump or you could perhaps add an intermediate pressure tank and booster pump at ground level.

We have a 3/4 hp submersible well pump connected to a 1 1/4 pvc pipe 120 feet deep. This needs to pump water into a tank 30 feet in the air. It flows 10gmp where the plumbing comes out of the well. I don't feel the tank is filling fast enough because of all the lift. What do weneed to do to get more gpm in the tank.

Hi, right now I have a 3hp booster pump that keeps blowing up on me I have roughly 150 feet of head on my propertyand I suck out of the creek. the silts and stuff are wearing out my impellers and I would like to do some thing different. I need a pump that will overcome that head and put out at least 30-35gpm at that height what kind of pump can I use?
On 2017-07-06 13:37:07.312198 by (mod) -
Balmain,
I can only give a part answer, as you don't specify a required water flow rate.
The lift height you cite is very little. So most pumps would be ok. See the Ace water pump cap acity chart in the article above. Even a 1/2 is ok.
Watch out that your pumping rate doesn't exceed 4th he well flow rate

Said:
A 1 hp submersible pump can typically pump 4 to 40 gpm - depending on several variables - see the table at the end of the article above.

There you'll see that a 1/2 hp pump at 125 ft. is able to deliver about 7 gpm and is at the upper limit of its capacity.

Not if it's a one line jet pump design.
Yes if it's a 2 line jet pump properly installed or a submersible pump in the well.

You can use either a two-line jet pump or you can use a submersible pump. Part of the choice depends on where you want to locate the pump.
For example the submersible pump would be easy to install but requires that you put it in the downhill water source. Conversely a two-line jet pump could be installed at the uphill location.

It's not the pump that generates air in a water system, it's air leaks or improper air volume controls. Your air volume control will, however, need to be capable of handling the GPM and volumes and pump cycles involved.

Hi, I have a 20mgd pump and a surge vessel to counter the hammering effect of backflows upon stopping the pump. My question is, will a 20mgd pump generate more air than 10mgd pump?

I had a 3/hp sub well pump. I was given a 1/2 hp sub pump. I changed the Control box an still no water..Help Plzzz. On 2016-10-24 by (mod) - I would like to change it to a 1 and 1/2 pump. would that hurt anything?
Anon:
Basically, no that's fine.
But there can be a subtle issue: if the new pump delivers water out of the well at a faster flow rate in GPM then IF the well flow rate is marginal or very modest, the newer, more powerful pump can cause the well to run out of water.
That can be managed by adding flow rate controls on the water system.
