GE's HVAC division was sold to Trane in 1982.
In 2016 General Electric sold its appliance business to Haier, a Chinese home appliance manufacturer for $5.4 billion. After 2016 GE no longer provides lighting, home appliances, cooktops, ranges, refrigerators, nor water heaters.
GE boiler or furnace age decoding guidelines are inconsistent but at least map to before and after the sale to Trane.
For older GE hydronic boilers, electric furnaces and similar heaters
With the caveat that you need additional information such as building age or notes on the equipment service tag or on paperwork stored nearby to guess the correct decade to which Y appears.
General Electric Air Conditioning was purchased by Trane in 1982 or by some sources 1981.
For GE heating boilers made after 1982 (or by some sources 1981) and sold by Trane may encode the equipment manufacture date in one of these formats:
123456YWW
Y is encoded as an alphabetic letter T (perhaps for Trane) for 1982
WW is the sequential week within year (01-52)

Great list of manuals! I am a historian and collector and I am looking for General Electric gas furnace product manuals that GE produced between 1968-1980. Would you happen to have any of those in your collection? Or does anyone know where I might find old GE furnace manuals? Thanks!
Sure, Phoebe, see
