Re-posting
Hi, I recently had some ceiling tiles removed from my basement and never actually had them assessed. I was in the attic and found the box they came in with the company name but can’t seem to find any information further than this.
The company is SHERES. I’m just worried these may have been asbestos made.

Thank you for the question about the use of asbestos in Canadian ceiling tiles.
Your Canadian Sheres ceiling tiles by Sheres Co. are not a brand for which I have information.
While blue asbestos (crocidolite) was used in some ceiling tiles, we cannot determine that by just looking with the naked eye.
I looked for a recored of use of asbestos in Sheres ceiling tiles without finding a determining reference.
Keep in mind that though the Canadian Sheres ceiling tile are so labeled, they might have been manufactured by another company and sold under the Sheres brand.
Here is your photo of the Sheres-brand ceiling tile, presumably in a Canadian home.
Sheres is described in this document

though it's interesting to note that the company name appears in earlier news articles as early as 1956.
Shere is also a city in British Columbia, Canada. Shere is a former station on the Canadian National Railway east of McBride, British Columbia.

purports to cite Sheres acoustic ceiling tiles
You could contact Greg Sheres to see what he can offer:
In seeking information about the history, manufacture, and contents of Sheres ceiling tiles we note that this may be a company from whom Greg Sheres descended.
Greg Sheres Location: 4420 Leefield Rd \ Victoria, British Columbia V9C3Y2 Canada T: 410-268-1542
Unfortunately that provide no further detail. Mr. Sheres replied to our enquiry stating that he has no connection to nor information about the Sheres ceiling tile company.
Note the bi-lingual packaging
While any Canadian company might have used bi-lingual French and English language on its packaging before the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act (R.S.C., 1985, c. C-38) that year could suggest a date range for your ceiling packaging.
Other companies sporting the Sheres name:
As of March 29, 2010, SHERE Limited was acquired by Atos Origin SA. SHERE Limited designs, builds, installs, and maintains integrated self-service kiosk, desktop ticketing, and fulfillment systems. It offers self service rail ticket vending machines; desktop rail ticket office ticketing systems; self service kiosk applications for hotels; food and beverage self service systems for the hospitality sector; and cycle hire systems. It offers business case evaluation, design, and support and maintenance services. SHERE Limited was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Guildford, United Kingdom.
6 steps to make a guess at asbestos hazard from unknown ceiling tiles
Henry
Sorry but those tiles don't look like a unique pattern and brand that we can identify.
First look for any evidence of the manufacturer: a stamp on the back of a tile, packaging left-over, records of the installation
Next consider the age of the home as a floor under the maximum age of the ceiling
Next consider the age of the ceiling, e.g. dates or records of renovations
If the ceiling was installed in the U.S. after the 1980's its not at all likely to contain asbestos.
If the ceiling is one of the manufacturers who assert their products never contained asbestos.
If you know nothing about the ceiling and can not remove it without making a dusty (and potentially hazarous) mess, the you may want to have a sample tested.
