@Clayton Miller,

I'm not sure but perhaps you're describing what amounts to a grounding or food or debris problem in the vicinity of the igniter.

On 2021-12-17 by Clayton Miller

i have a frigidaie gas range and the igniter will only throw a spark when the flame is burning on one burner where the gap is 3/8 or so all the other burners ignite properly and that one will work fine as long as i have the top off but once i reassemble it it quits

On 2021-12-01 by Inspectapedia Com Moderator - switch igniter wires to diagnose trouble

@Pete Terminato,

Did you try switching or replacing the wire between igniter and control module?

On 2021-11-30 by Pete Terminato - Frigidaire gas burner not igniting

Hello, your help would be appreciated because I'm stumped. My frigidaire gas stove burner isn't lighting. I went through your 5 fixes and it's still not igniting.

I have a spark. I even tried switching igniters. ALL that accomplished is now I have to burners not lighting.

Question, could the spark module be shorting out causing igniter to then go bad? Also, when turning on a burner, I noticed that all igniter spark. Is that normal?

Sorry for the long message, but all help again would be appreciated.

@Larry,

Do read the article GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR which lists a number of points that you will want to check. Quite common for the case you describe is that the wires are soaked inside the stovetop and need time to dry out.

Frigidaire gas range, all 5 stove top burner igniter positions make clicking sound. Only 1 burner shows a spark and lights the gas.
Other burners click and gas flows, can be lit with a match. Why no igniter spark? Electrode and burner assemblies have all been cleaned and compressed air blown.

@Robert L Dielman, try stepping through the diagnostics given

at GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR

- that's more complete than any wild guess I might add with no other info about your range. Let me know how that works for you or tell me if any of the material needs clarification.

Have a frigidaire range low cosylt model 5 yrs old. Only one igniter sparks.

On 2019-09-28 by (mod) - why won't our gas burners ignite?

Dan

I'm not aware of exactly such a control on residential gas appliances.

However it is true that if the igniter is damaged OR if the igniter module (typically a solid state brick inside the stove that turns igniters on and off when a burner control knob is turned "on") is damaged such as by a power surge, wetting, or mere age, then the igniters won't work.

Some igniters sense current flow between the igniter electrode and electrical ground (typically the burner body) and won't open the gas valve if there's not enough current flow.

That problem could be caused by

- a damaged igniter - one that's cracked or chipped

- bad igniter wiring

- bad igniter module

- dirt or debris on the igniter or on the burner that prevents good electrical contact

- wet or damaged wiring between the igniter and the control module

Here are the causes for burners not igniting, excerpted from the manual for your Frigidaire gas stove.

NOTICE that the instructions claim that you should be able to ignite the burners even if there is NO electrical power - lighting manually with a lighter or match. If that is really so for your model then I suspect the problem is at the gas supply or regulator.

. Surface control knob was not completely turned to LITE. Push in & turn the surface control knob to LITE until burner ignites and then turn control knob to desired flame size.

• Burner ports are clogged. With the burner OFF, use a small-gauge wire or needle to burner head slots and ignition ports. See “Cleaning the cooktop and surface burners” in the Care & Cleaning section for additional cleaning instructions.

• Range power cord is disconnected from outlet (electric ignition models only). Be sure power cord is securely plugged into the power outlet.

• Electrical power outage (electric ignition models only). Burners can be lit manually. See section on Setting Surface Controls.

On 2019-09-25 by Dan Parisi - Frigidaire Stove Error Code PF68 after power failure

We had the neutral wire from the electric company pedestal to our home electric panel fail.

This caused a number of erratic electrical problems in our home. Error code PF68 appeared on the display panel of our Frigidaire Professional stove (Model FPGF3081KFH) I unplugged the stove.

The electric problem has now been repaired, but now neither the oven nor the burners of our stove will ignite. The igniter is clicking strongly but I do not smell any gas.

I am guessing there is a safety feature that prevents the gas valve from opening if there is no electric current to the gas valve (similar to a thermocouple on older gas devices), Is this possible?
Is there possibly a reset switch? We never had any issues until the neutral wiring failure. Thank you.

On 2019-06-21 by (mod) - If there's no power to the Frigidaire gas burner igniter module

If there's no power to the module I'd expect an electrician or appliance service tech to

1. confirm that there is power to the appliance

2. trace power through the inlet to the appliance forward to look for an open wire or failed control ahead of the igniter.

No power to top burner igniter module, refrigidaire gallery built in range.

On 2018-08-10 by (mod) - Frigidaire gas cooktop FGGC3645QSB won't ignite

Usually it's dirty igniters, dirt on the burner where the igniter spark makes contact and gets sensed, or a wet wire. On occasion the igniter module has failed. Try first cleaning and drying the burner tops, caps, wires, etc.

On 2018-08-10 by Phil

Frigidaire gas cooktop FGGC3645QSB installed new Thanksgiving '17. Everything worked well, then the other day the right front burner failed to light, could hear the igniter clicking, then realized the igniter on the right rear was energized. That burner will light properly when turned on.

The right front can be lit with a lighter when the control is turned on. Any idea what is causing this malfunction?
