EFM Electric Furnace Man Boiler & Furnace Manuals

Electric Furnace-Man Boiler Logo from 1976 (C) InspectApedia.comEFM (Electric Furnace Man) in its first incarnation produced traditional coal and wood and oil fired heating equipment until about 1979; the EFM boiler company is still in business, in the U.S. and is cited just below, as the EFM Heating Equipment Division of the General Machine Corporation.

EFM boilers and furnaces also produced & sold under the name Boyertown Furnace Co.

The EFM ElectricFurnaceMan company, founded in New York as the General Machine Company in 1907, was originally a producer of coal-stoker boilers. EFM was later described as a subsidiary of the General Macine Corporation, in Emmaus, PA.

The company was described in advertisements and news articles, for example, in 1957 " ... the Electric Furnace Man Boiler stoker unit Is completely automatic ..." - Lebanon Daily News Newspaper Archives, Oct 25, 1957, p. 11

In 1974 the EFM company's CEO, Frederick Kalmbach ,Jr. was described:

Born and reared in New York City, Fred Kalmbach says that when the General Machine Company, Inc. expanded from New York to Emmaus in 1941 he was very happy to move here along with it.

From 1946 to 1953 he was president of the company and its subsidiary, Electric Furnace Man, Inc. In 1953 he was elected president of the Emmaus Foundry and Machine Co., Inc., a post he held until his retirement in 1968. - "The Probe", Allentown PA, October 1974.
