Best bet would be to step through the Diagnostics listed at GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR.
That's more complete than if I try to make it up again here off the cuff.

I can only get a spark from 1 of the 5 burner knobs,
the other four refuse to spark . gas is available at all the burners and I can light any of the burners using the one that works.
any solutions .

@Anonymous,

Why dont all the igniters dont spark
Igmiter mulgial and ingintion harnes have been changed still wont lite
@Eric,
if I understand, you're changing the gas control knob assembly or valve, not the igniter.
That sounds like a gas clog in the control valve itself.
When a gas burner on a stovetop won't ignite, we can diagnose a bit more carefully to distinguish between a problem with the igniter itself, the igniter wiring, the control module that sends current to the igniter, and the burner control knob and valve assembly.
When you open or turn on the gas burner at its control knob, two things happen:
1. the valve opens to let gas flow to the burner
2. the valve makes an electrical connection to tell the burner control module to send current to the igniter.
Match or lighter test can tell us that there is gas flow to the burner
IF you see or hear the igniter sparking, but no gas is flowing to the burner then the problem is with the gas flow: possibly a clog in the gas valve or in the gas metering orifice for that burner.
That can happen if someone spills food onto the stovetop at the burner or near the control valve.
To test this I light a match or cigarette lighter and hold hit by the burner, then open the gas valve.
If the burner ignites, then there WAS GOOD GAS FLOW and the problem was the igniter.
If the burner doesn't ignite and you don't even see a disturbance of the match flame at the burner, and you don't smell gas coming out at the burner, then the problem is NO or WEAK GAS FLOW.
Watch out: don't leave a gas burner open without successful burner ignition or you risk a gas fire or explosion.
If you establish that there is good gas flow, then proceed with the gas burner igniter diagnostic steps at GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR

My GE stove has developed a problem where certain gas valves will not fire the igniters. In order to light those burners I have to move another burner's valve to the light position to get all of the igniters to spark. Does this indicate that the igniter switches are bad for those burners?
@Mark,
Can't say it always happens on every stovetop
and
Don't mean to say it's always "damage" that's lasting
but IF the igniter wires run along the bottom of the same pan that catches spills and overflows then they may get wet - and work oddly until they dry out again;
This isn't the only source of gas stove igniter problems - as you can read in the article, but it's the most common.
On 2021-08-02 by Mark
@inspectapedia.com.moderator, My wife HAS had an overflow or 2 in the 24 years we've had this. But I didn't think enough was even able to get inside to do any damage.
On 2021-08-02 by inspectapedia.com.moderator (mod)
@Mark,
I mention it because quite often I've found that a pot overflow or too much liquid during stovetop cleaning can wet the igniter wires and cause shorting inside the stovetop -
I agree that you want to be cautious taking apart an old stovetop - corroded parts break or threads get stripped, etc.
On 2021-08-02 by Mark
@inspectapedia.com.moderator, Yeah, I read all that and only didn't check the wires because I have to get into where the wires are and I've been afraid to try that so far. Thanks for the other information.
On 2021-08-02 by inspectapedia.com.moderator (mod)
@Mark,
Usually the intermittent sparking problem you cite is caused by one of the problems in our diagnostic list at GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR - so I hope you'll give that a try. Particularly, before you replace the module or igniters, look for a bad igniter-to-wire-to-module connection or for a wet wire that's shorting out down in the stovetop.
If the connections are the same they may well be interchangable but to be clear I don't know that for a fact;

@inspectapedia.com.moderator, Also, is the KitchenAid spark module WPW10110491, the same as the GE WB13T10046? They certainly LOOK the same.
Thanks for those tips on getting the top off the counter. I presume one turns off the electric and gas first, but what about the gas connection? It looks like a pipe comes from below the cabinet and then there is a flexible metal "pipe" that goes up to the stovetop. Should it be disconnected at the pipe or at the stove? What about the intermittent nature of the igniters not working? Is that a normal failure symptom?
On 2021-08-02 by inspectapedia.com.moderator (mod) - For now we just use a propane lighter to light our gas stove burners
@Mark,
I'm not sure exactly how your stove top is installed, but I have successfully removed glass drop in range tops by cutting carefully with a single edge razor blade to remove the sealant.
If necessary you can even carefully Slide the razor blade under the edge of the glass. Just don't lift up or pry before you've cut everything.

I have a Kitchenaid stovetop KGCT305EWH0. Sometimes all the units spark and it might work for a week, then they all stop. A week later, they might start again. I've cleaned the igniters with some abrasive paper and the caps underneath with some green abrasive plastic pad (don't remember what you call that). But that doesn't help. Does the igniter module fail in this way and by that I mean intermittently?
For now we just use a propane lighter when we need to operate it, but it is a nuisance. If the igniter module needs replacing, then I have to try to pry the adhesive from the underneath of the glass and I'm afraid I would break it and I think there is NO replacement of the white glass. What do you think?

Hi I have a premier 24" stove/oven. Upon connecting power to the unit all igniters start and continue to fire off. I cleaned and dryed the igniter switchs but the igniters continued to click. I tried disconnecting the igniter switch harness assembly from the modulator.
Surprisingly when I connected power back to the unit the igniters still continued to click. I guess I'm not sure what the igniter switchs are supposed to do... create a connection from the modulator to the ignitors?
Impede a connection from the modulator to the igniters? The modulator is supplying power to the igniters even when the igniter switchs are disconnected! Thoughts? Modulator or ignitor switchs?

@Sudheer,
That repair cost does sound extreme - since the igniter parts typically cost less than $20. U.S.
First identify the right igniter part number and get your replacements on hand: igniters and wires for your KitchenAid KFGS366VSS01 gas cooktop. You can often buy those parts from Sears Direct https://www.searspartsdirect.com/
Try some Liquid Wrench or similar solvent to free up those stuck mounting screws;

Hi I have KFGS366VSS01 Model and the center burner's igniter porcelain casing has broken. Igniter does click but the spark direction is random. If I turn on using the lighter, the clicking sound is not stopping from the igniter. The igniter on all other burners is keep clicking while we cook on that burner.
The service person gave a quote of $450 to replace. Is there any way to fix it without spending the money. I am handy, but couple of the screws on the stove are really stuck and I can't take them out.
@Bob D,
Indeed the components include a switch or contact at the burner control knob.
A guess at probability of most common causes of stovetop igniter troubles
1. burner cap is askew
The No. 2 problem I find is wet wires between igniter and the spark module - it can take days for wetting from an overflowing pot of soup to dry out down in the stovetop.
No. 3 is probably a dirty food-contaminated igniter
No. 4 is probably a cracked igniter
On occasion the wires need replacement
On occasion the module itself has failed
On occasion there's a bad control contact ion the burner control knob/switch
On 2021-04-13 by Bob D
I should have included in my first post that I had been able to conform power at the wall plug and power at least up through the power cord where it enters the bottom of the unit.
I am wondering what components other than spark module might be the issue. I did make sure the ignitors are clean but am unsure what role the switch beneath plays to create the spark or acts to prevent the spark if something not right?
On 2021-04-07 - by (mod) -
@Bob D,
Before digging into the stovetop to get at the module, check that electricity to the stove is on - check at its receptacle.

I have a ge monogram model zgu36kwk2ww gas on glass stovetop. yesterday the ignitors all stopped working ,none of the 5 ignitors will click, gas definitely comes out but no clicking no ignition.
I tried to clean up each ignitor and they don't look bad. is the fact that all ignitors do not work lead to likely spark module problem. Or if one ignitor is having a problem do they all shut down as I understand ge has all ignitors spark when lighting a single ignitor. thanks for any inputs.
On 2021-03-18 by (mod) - dangers of gas stove when igniters don't work or electrical power is off
As long as all of the burners and oven controls on your gas stove are in the OFF position, there should be no gas leakage into your home - (presuming the gas piping, controls, etc. are not damaged, were properly installed, etc).
But
Watch out: if someone who doesn't understand that the igniters are not working or are OFF and who doesn't know that they need to use a handheld spark igniter or a match to turn on a burner turns on the gas to any of the burners or the oven, there is risk of a gas explosion.
So if anyone other than you (who knows the danger) might be operating the stove without your supervision, it would be safer to turn off its gas supply.

On 2021-03-05 by (mod) - lift-off GE Profile gas cooktop burners for cleaning?
@Brad T, I think the least ambiguous thing to do would be to get a hold of the owners and installation manual for this particular range top and look at the parts explosion.
I suspect that the part may be stuck in place by food spills but I don't know that for sure. I might try a bit of solvent like WD40, soaking, and gentle prying with a flat bladed putty knife AFTER confirming that your stovetop is one like that shown in our example: whose burners just lift up and off.
It could also have been installed in a cross threaded position. I don't know that either.
That's why we need to look at the parts explosion to see how it's assembled.

As you'll see in our sketch, excerpted from the instruction manual, GE says the burner head ought to lift straight off.
On 2021-03-05 by Brad T
We have a GE Profile built in gas range. The front left burner head will not lift off of the surface for cleaning like the other burner heads can.
It cannot rotate due to the igniter underneath, but it appears to be positioned at a different angle that the others.
What is the correct alignment of the burner heads supposed to be? Is there anything different about the front left burner head that will release it when you need to remove it?

What did your onsite experts do? Did anyone check the wires for immersion in spills, loose connections, or a failing control module or any of the other diagnostics given at GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR?
On 2021-01-22 by Ellie
Our gas cooktop lights one day and not the next- and so on. We have had 3 companies out but because it is working when they are here they say there is nothing they can do. The next day I am back to user a lighter to light the burners. Frustrating to say the least. It is clean- probably not the power since it works every other day. Could it be the module? Any ideas you have would be helpful. Thank you.

Jen
If there's any possibility of a recent liquid spill into the stove pipe then you would want to check all of the wires between the igniters and the control module because if one of those is wet or shorted that could cause the problem you describe. If that's not the case then it's possible that the control module itself needs to be replaced.

Hi,
We have a GE Cafe model CGY366P2M1S1. When we turned a burner off last night all electrodes began firing and we have to unplug it in order for this to not happen. It seems connected to the one burner, as when we turn it on with the stove plugged in, and then turn it off, the electrodes stop firing.
We have cleaned all electrodes, reseated burner caps etc. Any thoughts as to what this could be? We are thinking a short somewhere but not sure. We live in a rural area so just getting a technician may be a challenge and I am looking to order parts necessary for the fix in order to take care of it.

On 2021-01-01 by (mod) - simple fix for a single cooktop burner that wouldn't light
good going, Julius and thank you for this tip that will help other readers get past a misbehaving gas burner igniter.
Do you think perhaps there was liquid that had spilled into the burner?
On 2021-01-01 by Julius
I wanted to share my very simple fix for a single cooktop burner that wouldn't light. My large burner was very finnicky so, rather than trying to fix it, I used the other burners. Lately I've had need of the large one so started reading posts. I cleaned the ceramic igniter and the burner covers but no luck. It seemed that the igniter was out of sync with the gas and would shut off before the gas could flow sufficiently. I decided to use a match to light the burner rather than relying on the igniter.
When I did this, I heard burbling and hissing sounds so I left the burner on until it stopped. I tried using the igniter again and it worked intermittently so I repeated the process a couple of times, letting the burner run for a couple of minutes each time.
Voila! The burner works perfectly. It seems that lack of use allows crud to collect in places we can't see or reach. The fix for me seemed to be to burn it off. I know this won't work for everyone but it's certainly worth a try.

I have gas stove top and replaced a failed igniter module. Now, one of the igniters sparks randomly. Thank you for pointing out what sure sounds like a safety hazard with some gas range controls.
A related hazard is front-mounted gas appliance controls that can be turned-on by curious children like my own (were when they were small).
I don't have an attractive solution; you might consider retrofitting a control guard bar or similar protection.
This
WHIRLPOOL GAS RANGE OWNERS MANUAL [PDF]
states that the controls [or at least some of them] are or can be locked against accidental turn-on, so you might want to contact the company to see what they have to say about the hazard you have discovered.
"Control Lock
The Control Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent unintended use of the oven.
When the control is locked, only the ACCUSIMMER, CLOCK SET, OVEN LIGHT (on some models) and TIMER pads will function.
To Lock/Unlock Control: Before locking, make sure the oven and Timer are off.
Press and hold START for 5 seconds. A single tone will sound, and “Loc” will appear on the display.
Repeat to unlock. “Loc” will disappear from the display." - p. 9

On 2020-10-09 - by (mod) -
That's not a problem I've encountered, Dan and an interesting one.
If there were a gas pressure issue you'd at least detect some gas coming out of your burners. Have you tried holding a lit match by a burner, then turning on the burner control to see if there is any evidence of gas movement - match flame ignites or match flame wavers?
Take care not to get blown up by igniting accumulated un-lit gas.
Also: is this a new problem or has it always been present?
and
when you ignite burners are they visibly smaller than they used to be?
and
is there a difference or change in gas flame height on burners if you ignite one vs. all four of them on the stovetop?

I have a 6 burner w/ grill Thermador cooktop.. it is about 20 y/o. The front left burner stopped igniting entirely; no spark,click or gas. Recently the one directly behind this one stopped in the same way. This burner is a low temperature controlled burner.
A repairman looked at both but couldnt ascertain if it was the spark unit or the ignition module. To be quite franke he didnt seem terribly competent. Can you tell me if this is more likely to be as a result or spark or ignitor module or is there a good possibility that it could be one or more of the other issues.
Also when the 2nd burner went out there was a lot of clicking so much so that I had to unplug it to stop it. Thank you for any knowledge you might offer.

when I turn on the gas knob, the flame comes, do my cooking and turn off the gas and the flame will turn off. But then few minutes later when I turn on the gas knob, the gas would be on but the igniter does not ignite to turn on the gas. But when I take a match, the flame will come on.
Afterwards, I give up and then wait for several hours, and then turn on the gas knob, then the igniter will ignite and flame will come on. It seems to me that the spark module might be bad but why is it intermittent?
When I turn on the gas knob, it will come on and then right after I turned it off, it will not. It sounds to me that I have to let the igniter to cool down before the next try. Any suggestion what could be wrong?

Unfortunately, if I turn on the oven and once the oven gets hot, the stove no longer lights up ... the stove’s spark module stops clicking and the burners won’t light. Once the oven cools down, the stove lights up again as normal.
What might be the cause and how can I repair?
Thanks and appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks for the follow-up, Buddy that may help other readers. Keep me posted.
Luckily the total number of components isn't great: igniter, connector, wire, module, wire, burner control switch.
The no. 1 problem is wet wire or dirty burner edges that prevent good electrical sparking. But as you've found there can be more subtle problems that keep an igniter from working properly.
Thanks for the discussion.

still having trouble. ignitors were an issue from the alternative plug I used - it was reversed. no clue why the initial gfci tripping and breaker tripped. changed out the glow ignitor, fiddled with wiring, etc. but no obvious issues. working well now. time will tell.

I'm so glad you found the igniter reverse polarity problem.
Was the stove igniter system working previously?
On 2020-07-22 by Anonymous
I still have a weak ignitor on one of the burners and will address that in turn.
On 2020-07-22 by Anonymous
thank you. In reading through your diagnostic discussions, I came across the reversed polarity issue. I got my tester and found the wall outlet polarity is reversed. I hooked the stove via extension cord to another outlet ( after checking to ensure correct polarity in the outlet) and now the ignitor works fine.
I will do further testing but suspect the outlet is wired incorrectly.

Thank you for an interesting and helpful diagnostic question about ignitor wiring short-circuiting.
I suspect that somewhere in your Ranger stovetop one of the wires between the igniter and the control module is shorted either to another wire or to a metal ground in the appliance itself. That would require disassembling the stovetop sufficiently to examine all of the wires. I seen a similar problem when the wires were wet. Maybe your igniterwires are Mouse chewed.

hi, first, thank you for the detailed ignitor diagnostics. I have a capital gcrs364q 4 burner slide in range. I had to disassemble due to a mouse invasion. Working fine after reassembly for 2 weeks. 1st issue was throwing gfci intermittently. Thought I felt a shock when leaning over the stove to reset and plug back in. It became a dead short, throwing gfci instantly. Suspected oven ignitor and this unplugged ignitor. No longer threw breaker. Ordered a new one
Went back to using stove and in using range top, piezo ignitors began clicking even after burner lit. I can turn burner all the way down and ignitor will stop but otherwise clicks. Found one ignitor has weak spark. Cleaned but no better. Put electric tester on spark and burner ring to see if any continuity and got shocked and all 4 ignitors clicked.
I didn't expect their to be current until I turned on the burner? Unplugged and looking inside control panel for burnt or loose wires but see none.
I did not remove the piezo ignitors nor the touch the ignitor module when dealing with the mouse but did replace all of the glowing ignitors. Wondering how to go about diagnosing. Any help would be appreciated.

On 2020-06-16 - by (mod) - gas leak at burners?
Sra Thrlma
If the gas was leaking at your stove burners when the gas control knob for those burners or for each of them that is was turns to the off position then the controls are defective and need to be replaced.
If the gas leak was occurring only when the control knob was in on position but the burner was not igniting that sounds to me like an ignition problem that could be a bad igniter or simply a burner cap that was asked you.
So before thinking about a course of action we need to understand where the problem lies. In the meantime it's correct to leave the stove off because you don't want to risk a fire or explosion.

I have a gas stove. I have the top burners leaking gas out of them. Right not I had the gas company to turn them off.

Thanks for the update Phoebe.
Be sure you've also already checked for the obvious snafus like a wet wire or dirty burner edge or burner cap askew.

Post a photo of the data tag for your cooktop or oven or stove and we can research further. However your original photo, regardless of the brand of cooking appliance, is using an igniter module that is the one that we sighted. That module is used in a number of brands.

thank you,
Still cant find the brand (only moved in a month ago and the real estate/ previous owners do not know, it is a SMEG Oven.
I dont believe it is a GE appliance, the module part type it says: Type": BF 25046-08

Following-up:
Please tell me the brand and model of yoru gas stove so that we can research your stove's particular spark module.
That looks like a GE Spark Module Part No. WB13T10046 - AP3778816 - shown below. Is this a GE appliance?
The igniter shown here is used on GE, General Electric, Hotpoint, Sears, Kenmore range stoves and oven cooktops and is referred to also as the "spark module".
Walmart lists this part as WB13T10046 Genuine GE Gas Range Spark Module for BK50044.52 AP3778816 PS952864.
On 2020-05-21 - by (mod) - igniter on my stove is not sparking/clicking at all for any of the burners
Phoebe:
Provided that the stove has not lost electrical power entirely, then I suspect a bad igniter module.
But first double check that the igniter wires aren't sitting wet in a puddle inside the stove, such as occurs if there was a boiled-over pot.
On 2020-05-21 by Phoebe
Hi there, the igniter on my stove is not sparking/clicking at all for any of the burners, so I thought it must have been the module?
I have taken the attached photo, not very electrically savvy, hoping you can assist?
On 2020-05-25 - by (mod) - continuous igniter sparking
John,
Thanks for the "continuous igniter sparking" question.
From the article GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR we have this advice:
If the igniter continues to spark continuously after the burner flame has lit check the following causes
Wet or dirty igniters
or wires
Wiring error: electrical power to the appliance has hot and neutral wires reversed or polarity has been reversed at the igniter module
Ground loss: the ground for the power supply or igniter module has been lost or disconnected.
Gas burner cap askew
On 2020-05-25 by John
The igniter will not stop after the burner is lit. All five burners do the same thing.
On 2020-05-19 - by (mod) - CaloricAmana gas range top burners spark in unison intermittently
has the top recently been wet or have there been any liquid overflows?
On 2020-05-19 by minky
Have a caloric/amana gas range works fine except when oven is on top burners spark in unison intermittently, also oven will spark occasionally....igniter switch at oven bad or whole igniter module. stove is RLN385UL. Thanks
Mike:
1. for safety turn power off to the gas range top right away
2. if the buzzing is really coming from the range top, then your experienced appliance repair person or electrician will look for an electrical problem such as
- a shorted or damaged electrical wire
- a failing control module in the range top
- a bad electrical connection

On 2020-05-07 - by (mod) - One of the four burners on my propane stove top is clicking
Dan:
1. check that the burner cap is not askew
2. Check for blocked openings in the gas burner near the igniter
3. Check for food or debris or crud on the igniter or on the metal surface of the burner to which the spark has to jump
4. Check for a wet, shorted igniter wire
Beyond those, I'd step through the article GAS COOKTOP or STOVE IGNITER REPAIR
Keep me posted.

Hey folks. One of the four burners on my propane stove top is clicking, I see a spark, but won't light. If I light the burner with a lighter, the gas lights, but the clicking will not stop. Does anyone know what this might indicate?

On most stoves the igniter can be removed from the top without disassembling the stove top. Take care not to lose the wire connected to the igniter bottom when you lift it out. But if you can post a photo of your stove top I could come into further
