Fairbanks Morse & Co, (Chicago IL USA) with offices in Australia, England, and in many cities across the U.S. and Canada, starting as a scale manufacturer, was a large 20th century manufacturer of heavy equipment including railroad engines (12-cylinder Fairbanks-Morse Model 38D engine) and smaller engines such as the Fairbanks Morse 2,3, and 6 horsepower "Z" throttling governor engines.
