What we have on Columbia boilers begins at COLUMBIA BOILERS contact info and manuals.

I haven't found a complete set SN decodings for Columbia Patriot boilers - see my notes beow.

Here is what we have either seen in the field or found reported by various sources:

• YYYY a four digit year such as 1995 appears by itself on the data tag for some Columbia boilers manufactured in the 1990s on the data tag lower right in a field marked YR BUILT YYYY

However your boiler's serial number

• 4578L suggests this boiler could have been made as early as 1978. Possibly week 45.

The age of the building where it's installed

"Patriot" boilers such as the Patriot 80® were also produced by Heat Controller, Inc., (HCI) and sold under these names: Century® Comfort-Aire® Conquest® Corsair® Grimsby® Heat Controller® and Patriot 80® boilers.

For those HCI boilers the most common form of serial number age encoding is

YYMM567890 where YY is the two digit year and MM is the two digit month of manufacture and the remaining digits 567890 are the unique serial number of the boiler
